Fabrication of Extrudate Filaments from Waste Polyethylene Terephthalate Plastics for 3D Printers

The use of 3D printers for manufacturing processes comes with the challenge filament replacement subsequent processes. This aforementioned including environmental problems posed by plastics wastes formed basis current work which is focused on design and construction a simple single extruder production filaments from waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) rapid prototyping machines printers. Three Band heaters were used to melt PET screw was move melted longitudinally along barrel. consisted three zones namely feed zone, compression zone metering zone. temperature band controlled Digital controller. paper describes design, fabrication testing extruder. A 2mm die extrude to1.75 mm. performance system quantified through relevant tests findings reported. When barrel assembly are at 200°C, melting begins occur 230°C, extrudate appear energy efficiency found out be 75.2%. Keywords— printer, Design, Extruder, Filament, Polyethylene terephthalate.
